Christopher Columbus Readdy, Sr.

Mr. Christopher Columbus Readdy, Sr. was born August 29, 1937 in Ruffins, South Carolina. He was the beloved son of Nina Readdy and the late Blanche Readdy Sr. - the oldest of their six children.
Christopher received his primary and secondary education from Hoke County Public School System. In 1957, he graduated from Upchurch High School in Raeford, North Carolina. Immediately following graduation, Christopher relocated to Washington, DC and decided to further his education. In 1959, he became certified as an Auto Mechanic for Chevy Chase Chevrolet. Shortly thereafter, he obtained skills in Brick & Masonry from Phelps Vocational School in 1962. As his skills continued to progress he became an expert brick mason, carpenter and that led to the creation of his own business "Readdy B Fast Home Improvement".
He was baptized at Bible Way Church in Washington, DC. He later joined the Columbia Elks Lodge #85, where he served diligently and truly led by example.
On January 22, 2015, at the age of 77, the Lord called Christopher home to eternal rest, with his family by his side at Providence Hospital in Washington, DC. Christopher leaves to cherish his memories; his wife and best friend of 48 years: Mrs. Blondell Readdy of the home; his mother: Nina Readdy of Raeford, NC; one son: Calvin L. Readdy (Pamela) of Converse, TX; one daughter: Dr. Mary E. McClinnahan of Raeford, NC; five grandchildren: Stefan McClinnahan of Sterling, VA, Dejuan McClinnahan of Los Angeles, CA, Captain Ebonique McClinnahan of Augusta, GA, Megan Bibbs of Houston, TX and Calvin L. Readdy, Jr. of Converse, TX; seven great-grandchildren: Devan McClinnahan, Rae'Qwan McClinnahan, Omaria Dixon, Talia McClinnahan, Stefan McClinnahan, Jr., Arial McClinnahan, and Michelango Oneil McClinnahan; four sisters, Mary Stewart of Capital Heights, MD; Patricia Melvin and Ruth (Wilbert) McNair of Raeford, NC, and Allonease Readdy of Washington, DC; two brother-in-laws: Mack Ryans (Dorothy) of Edgefield, SC, and George Stewart of Capitol Heights, MD; five sister-in-laws: Diane (Julious) Readdy Anderson of Raeford, NC, Trula Kemp of Charlotte, NC, Alberta Copeland of Washington, DC; Mildred Ryans of Rochester, NY, Barbara Ryans of Edgefield, SC; one uncle, JC Adkinson of Ruffins, SC, two aunts, Thelma Stephens of Ruffins, SC; and Pastor Mary E. Adkinson of Raeford, NC. He left a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends behind that he truly cherished, Proceeding him in death: his father, Blanche Readdy, Sr., one son, Christopher C. Readdy, Jr., one sister, Helen Readdy Bratcher and one brother Blanche Edward Readdy Jr.
