Merrill G. Stains

Merrill G. Stains, 73, of Scottish Drive, Three Springs, PA, died Monday, July 14, 2014 at Pinnacle Health, Harrisburg Hospital.

Born February 4, 1941 at Maddensville, PA, he was a son of the late Hiram & Roxie (Wilson) Stains. He was married to the former Gail L. Ramsey on August 12, 1961 at Three Springs, PA. Mrs. Stains survives at their home.

Also surviving are three children: Dale L. Stains and wife Sherrie of RD, Three Springs, PA, Tina M. Swan and husband Dennis of Shippensburg, PA, and Duane E. Stains and wife Diane of RD, Three Springs, PA; six grandchildren: Jamie Swan, Jason Stains, Derrick Stains, Brittany Stains, Dale Stains, Jr. and Brianna Stains; and five great grandchildren: Loreli Fleming, Gretchen Fleming, Riley Stains, Jayden Stains and Catherine Stains. Also surviving are five siblings: Margaret Horton of St. Thomas, PA, Clyde Stains of Orbisonia, PA, Cloyd Stains of Rd, Three Springs, PA, Raymond Stains of Fort Loudon, PA, and Paul Stains of St. Thomas, PA. One brother, Ernest Wayne Stains, preceded in death.

He was a social member of American Legion Post 561, McConnellsburg, PA. He retired from the former Sprint Telephone Co. and was also engaged in farming.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, PA. Interment will be made at Walnut Grove Cemetery, RD, Three Springs, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home 6 - 8 p.m. on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
