Stella M. (Berrier) Smith, 100, formerly of Dilworthtown, PA and Shade Gap, PA, died Thursday, February 6, 2014 at Brandywine Hall, West Chester, PA.
Born June 23, 1913 in Shirley Twp., Huntingdon Co., PA, she was a daughter of the late Edgar J. & Alda (College) Berrier. She was married to Ray D. Smith on June 14, 1933 in Tell Twp., Huntingdon Co. Mr. Smith preceded in death June 21, 2000.
Surviving are two sons, Gary P. Smith and his wife Thelma and Jay N. Smith and his wife Alicia both of West Chester, PA, six grandchildren, a number of great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and two siblings, LaRue Locke of Carlisle, PA and Glenn Berrier of Blairs Mills, PA. Four brothers, Carl, Donald, Maurice and Dean and two sisters, Helen Kling and Wanda Martin, preceded in death.
Mrs. Smith had owned and operated the Dilworthtown Country Store, West Chester, PA for 32 years, retiring in 1978. She had been a member of the Dilworthtown Presbyterian Church. After retirement she moved to Shade Gap and was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, Shade Gap, PA.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, PA with Mr. Kenneth Scott officiating. Interment will be made at the I. O. O. F. Memorial Cemetery, Rockhill Furnace, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Monday.
