Joseph L. Romano

Joseph L. “Murphy” Romano, ago 90, of Milford, PA and formerly of Clifton, NJ died peacefully at Milford Senior Care Facilities Wednesday, February 17, 2016.

A cherished father, grandfather, and brother, Murphy was born in Passaic, NJ one of five children born to Carmella Lena Nigrella and Lorenzo Romano.  Murphy grew up in the Second Ward on Oak Street.  He is a graduate of Passaic High School.  Following high school, he enlisted in the Army in 1946 and was honorably discharged the following year.

After various jobs he settled down at Rizzuto-Berra Bowling Lanes in Clifton’s Styertowne Shopping Center until he retired.

Surviving are his two children, daughter Donna Marie Piazza and her husband John Piazza of Shohola, Pa and son Joseph L. Romano Jr. of Middletown, NY; two grandchildren Ann Marie R. Piazza and Joseph Paul Romano; sister Phyllis Patire and brother Angelo Romano; several nieces and nephews.  

Murphy was predeceased by his brother Frank Romano, sister Marian Tencza, and son Lawrence Murphy Romano.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Patrick’s Church, Milford, PA on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at 10 AM. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Paterson, NJ on February 22, 2016 at 11 AM with military honors.
