Booker Franks, Jr., 84, maintained HVAC systems at Naval Research Laboratory for nearly 40 years in Washington, DC, died at his home in Winchester, VA on November 22, 2014 of natural causes.
Booker Franks Jr. served in both the U.S. Army as an Intelligence Communications Specialist and then transferred to the U.S. Air Force as a Signals Specialist. He then retired from the Naval Research Laboratory in 1996.
Beloved widower of Alice Carter, Maria Belen Franks, and Doris Franks. He is survived by nine children, two stepchildren, seventeen grandchildren, three great granddaughters to include three daughter in-laws. Children: Deborah R. Carter, Donald B. Franks, Phillip T. Franks, Brenda B. Haith, Timothy R. Franks, Michael D. Franks, Danielle E. Franks, Sarah E. Franks, Olivia E. Franks, Kimberly Chamberlain, and Jeffery Dawson. Grandchildren: Allison Carter, Donald B. Jr., Jeremiah P. Franks, Christopher Franks, Jessica Franks, Jonathan Franks, Christine Franks, Phillip T. Franks Jr., Julian A. Franks, Darius M. Franks, Kenneth Terrell, Krystal Haith, Kandace Haith, Jordan Franks, M. Xavier Franks, D. Landon Franks, and P. Cameron Franks. Great granddaughters: Jillian R. Franks, Ella Grace Franks and Anyla Renee Carter. Daughter in-laws: Yvette Franks, Imelda Franks and Antoinette Franks. His brothers and sisters survived are: Robert, Doris (Tootsie), William, James, Joan, Thomas (deceased), Donald (deceased), and Louise (deceased).
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at 12 noon at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 18410 Chapel Drive, Triangle, VA 22172. Interment will be at Quantico National Cemetery. Services by Bianchi Funeral Service.
