Clippinger, Lester Obituary

Lester Knepper Clippinger went home on Thursday, October 27, 2016, from Menno Haven at Penn Hall.  He was born on October 14, 1921 near Waterfall, PA, to Wilson Montgomery and Mary (Knepper) Clippinger.  Lester grew up on the family farm near the Center Church and attended Hustontown High School.  He married Mary Jane Burns Clippinger in 1940 and served from 1943-1945 in the U.S. Army (AAA) in Europe during World War II (Battle of the Bulge).  Lester and Mary Jane made their home and raised their family in Knobsville (Fulton County).

Lester worked in construction management most of his career, retiring from The Blake Company in the mid-80s.  After retiring, he and Mary Jane enjoyed traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Lester is survived by a daughter Dorinda (wife of William) Jewell of Columbia, SC, and Tim (Lester K., Jr.) (husband of Josie) of St. Michaels, MD.  Also, two beloved grandchildren, Lyle K. Clippinger of Milwaukee, WI, and Amy J. Clippinger (wife of John Santa Barbara) of West Chester, PA, along with two great-granddaughters, Kayla Clippinger and Nora Clippinger.

Four brothers (John, James, Samuel, and Montgomery) and seven sisters (Elizabeth Cutchall, Nora Appleby, Margaret Mellott, Alberta Clippinger, Myrtle Knepper, Laura Wogan, and Millicent Ruth) preceded him in death.

The M. R. Brown Funeral Home made all funeral arrangements.  The service will be held at Brown’s (301 Pitt Street, Hustontown) on Monday, October 31, 2016, at 11 a.m. with a graveside service in Center Cemetery (3195 Doran Road, Three Springs).
