Young-Ushry, Ola Obituary

Mother Ola Young-Ushry was born May 28, 1920 in Taliaferro, County, Crawfordville Georgia to the late Jimmy and Polly Young.  She grew up with a large family of four brothers and six sisters.

Mother Ushry was blessed with a long fruitful life and was the last surviving sibling.  At an early age she joined Springfield Baptist Church in Crawfordville, GA.

Mother Ushry was baptized in Jesus name by the late Rev. A.R. Combs, and received the gift of the HolyGhost.  She served faithfully in that ministry, until her family moved to the Washington DC area.

Mother Ushry joined Refuge Church of Christ under the leadership Bishop Bonner.  She worked diligently in several auxiliaries and clubs.  She was faithful until her health began to fail in her later years.

She begin to worship at the Greater Bible Way Church with her daughter as a Mother of Zion.   She was a woman who believed in hard work and honest living. Her lifelong occupation was that of a RN and caregiver.

She was employed at the Hadley Hospital for many years.  Mother Ushry Ola was the proud mother of two children: son Dalton, who preceded her in death and her daughter our Shepherd Mother Pearlie Mae Brown.

She loved to cook, especially Sweet potatoe Pies... known as “Granny” she is fondly remembered for her honesty and speaking her mind in all situations, her witty sayings and antidotes. She will be missed but not forgotten.

She leaves to mourn: Her daughter, Shepherd Mother Pearlie Mae Ushry-Brown, Grand children, Great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
