Yates, Isabella Obituary

ISABELLA G YATES (nee WRIGHT) Isabella G. Yates passed away peacefully at her home on October 17th.

Isabella was born and grew up in the north of England in a town called Newcastle On Tyne. She met her husband Tony (Anthony Yates) in London. They fell in love and Tony’s family migrated to Canada for better opportunities. Tony saved to send for Isabelle to come and join him in Canada to be married. Shortly thereafter, they chose to move to the United States and settled in Baltimore where Tony worked as a machinist at Seagram & Sons and Isabelle worked at the Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. They moved to Pasadena in 1968 and she became a homemaker while her children grew up.

Most precious to Isabelle was her family near, far and extended. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a doting Grandmother. She is the daughter of the late James G. Wright and Mary Hart Wright. Belle was a beautiful singer, a fantastic cook and extremely talented at knitting and sewing. She especially enjoyed preparing holiday dinners for her family and making traditional English meals and desserts.

She is survived by her two children, Victoria Paesch of Pasadena and her son, Stephen Yates and his wife Kimberly, also of Pasadena; and her four grandchildren, Jake, Katherine, Shane and Emily. She is also survived by her nephew, David Knowland whom she loved dearly and his wife Kathleen, as well as several other nieces and nephews in England, Scotland and Australia.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Yates; her brothers, James, Thomas, Duncan, John, and Alexander; and her sisters, Elizabeth and Catherine.

A celebration of her life will be held at 4pm on Friday, October 25th at Mount Carmel United Methodist Church, 3703 Mountain Road in Pasadena. The family will also have a dinner following the services at Nabbs Creek Restaurant, 864 Nabbs Creek Road. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of the Chesapeake.
