Michael A. Wayland

Michael “Mike” Ashby Wayland, 46, of Luray, passed away on Friday, July 3, 2015, in the Winchester Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 10, at 2:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home with Sammy Campbell and Rev. Jon Heddleston, officiating. Interment will be private.

Mike was born April 9, 1969, in Culpeper County, son of Thomas Wayland Sr. and Mary H. Wayland of Flint Hill. He was a 1987 graduate of Rappahannock County High School and owned and operated his own business Wayland Painting and General Contracting. Mike was a member of the Unknown Fools MC.

Surviving with his parents are his wife Sherrill Wayland; two daughters Jessica Wayland of Luray and Alexis Scroggins of Front Royal; one step-daughter Cristy Scroggins of Front Royal; two brothers Eddie Wayland and wife Paula of Front Royal and Brian Wayland of Washington; one grandson Keyani Rogers of Luray; two step-grandchildren Adryenne Shepherd and Alan Shepherd of Front Royal; one niece Mary Beth Wayland of Front Royal; one nephew Tommy Wayland of Front Royal; and Mike Weaver whom he thought of as a son.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
