Donald Shay Van Wort, 86 of Milford, PA passed away at home on Tuesday, July 11, 2017.  He was born on April 23, 1931, the son of the late Frederick R and Mary Emma (Shay) Van Wort.

After High School graduation in Haverstraw, he enlisted in the US Navy and became a Petty Officer 2nd Class and Radar Operator during the Korean conflict.

Employed by Rockland Light and Power for 42 years, he retired as an Electric Meter Department Supervisor in Monroe, NY for what became Orange and Rockland Utilities.

He married Nancy Joan Van Houten in 1956 and was a life member of the Nyack Ambulance Corps, having lived in Nyack until 2005, then moved to Milford, PA.

Donald is survived by his wife, a son Peter and wife Eileen, a grandson Peter J II, granddaughter Emma and great granddaughter Paisley.

He was predeceased by his parents, a brother Frederick Jr. and a 2yr. old sister Harriet.

Cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.

Final internment will be at the Brick Church Cemetery, New Hempstead, NY.
