Turner, Mark Obituary

Mark Andrew Turner (Age 41)

On Sunday, October 6, in Alexandria, Virginia, beloved husband of Elizabeth ("Lizzie") W. Hill. Mark is also survived by his parents, Jeanne Pryor Turner of Chicago, Illinois, and William E. and Katherine Turner of Falls Church, Virginia, his grandfather Patrick Duval of San Diego, California, and his brother Will (Gina) Turner of Chicago, Illinois, his sisters-in-law Clair Hill of Fairfax, Virginia, and Ellen (Kris) Kelderman of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, as well as his adored nephews and nieces, Jake Kelderman, James Slappey, Jacqueline Turner, and Josie Kelderman.

Mark was born in North Carolina, but raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, and remained a dedicated Saints fan despite living nearly 20 years in Redskins' territory. He earned a Master of History from George Mason University. A lifelong soccer player, he was also a dedicated referee and a huge A.C. Milan fan. He recently took a position with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and was looking forward to a new career. He loved history, traveling, soccer, sailing, his dog, his friends, his family, and life.

Mark was one of those people that as soon as you met him you felt an instant connection. Quick witted and generous of heart, he will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m., on Saturday, October 12, at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, L.L.C., 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, Virginia, 22032. Following the service at 4 pm, relatives and friends will gather at the family home, for some of Mark's favorite food, including fried chicken and carrot cake. - See more at:
