Samuel H. "Bud" Talley of Chantilly, VA., died on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at the age of 82.

Mr. Talley, a native of Syracuse, NY, had resided in Fairfax County since 1970. He was a former 31-year resident of McLean, VA. Mr. Talley earned his doctoral in Economics from Syracuse University in 1966. He also held graduate degrees in finance and business. During his career, he taught economics and finance at The University of Maine; served fourteen years at The Federal Reserve Board, first as a senior research economist and then as Assistant Director of Banking Supervision and Regulation. He later served as a resident consultant at the World Bank in Washington, DC.

During his life, Mr. Talley either worked in or toured more than 40 countries. He was a lover of classical music, patron of the arts and an avid reader of literature on economics, finance and public policy.

Mr. Talley is survived by his wife of 52 years, Phyllis Romano Talley; his daughter Barbara Arnone; his son-in-law, Michael Arnone; and three grandchildren, Philip, Julia and Samuel Arnone. He also leaves several nieces and nephews and countless friends.

Family and friends are invited to Mr. Talley's Life Celebration at Money and King Funeral Home, 171 W. Maple Ave., Vienna, Va on Friday, October 4th from 2-4 and 6-8 PM., where service will be held on Saturday, October 5th at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local hospice.
