Geraldine Steninger

Geraldine Steninger, 89, formerly of Shade Gap, PA and more recently of Summerville, SC, passed away at her home on Thursday, July 30, 2015.  

She was the daughter of the late William and Lula (Webb) Murphy, born on December 26, 1925.  She was married to the late Merle Steninger who preceded her in death on January 15, 2015.  The couple was married on March 28, 1945 at Mapleton Depot by Rev. E.E. Dunkleberger, United Brethren Minister.

Surviving is one daughter, Donna Harris of Summerville, SC; two granddaughters and four great grandchildren.  

She was a graduate of Orbisonia High School, Class of 1944.  She and her husband operated The Clover Farm Store and later The Economy Store in Rockhill Furnace for over thirty years.  Geraldine attended the Shade Gap Picnic from 1926 until 2013 and never missed a year.  Her hobby was reading and crossword puzzles.  She was a charter member of The Cromwell United Bible Church, RD, Three Springs, PA.  She served as church treasurer for 22 years and also taught the primary class in Sunday School for many years.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at the Cromwell United Bible Church, 19799 Hill Valley Road, Three Springs, PA with Rev. Darren McClintock and Pastor Tex Dunbar officiating. Interment will be made at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, RD, Shade Gap, PA. Friends may call at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley St., Orbisonia, PA 6 – 8 PM on Tuesday and at the church, one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
