Charlie James Starnes

Charlie James Starnes, of Front Royal, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2014, in the Warren Memorial Hospital.

A funeral service will be held at noon on Friday, March 14 at the Maddox Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Mike Derflinger. Interment will follow in Panorama Memorial Gardens, Waterlick.

Mr. Starnes was born on July 18, 1933 in South Carolina, son of the late Basil and Beulah Starnes. He retired from Local 147 Operating Engineers and had worked for Rice Construction as a Superintendent. He was a member of the Unity Masonic Lodge #146.

Mr. Starnes was preceded in death along with his parents, by his daughter Lori Lovell Starnes.

Surviving are his loving wife Lorraine Lovell Starnes; one son James Brian Starnes and wife Lisa Ann of Front Royal; four grandchildren: Daniel Joseph Rishel, James Brian Starnes, Jr., Jessica Lynn Rishel and Maggie Alisa Starnes; and three great-grandchildren: Riley Ann Heflin, Jackson Kyle Ashby and Kaylee Renee Heflin.

Pallbearers will be J. B. Starnes, Daniel Rishel, Dave Foley, Ralph Smith, Lloyd Heflin and Jerry Wines.

Honorary pallbearers will be Haywood Williams, Johnnie Vencill, Josh Vencill and Dan Rishel.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
