Susie Didyk Stapleton, 84, of Cooks Road, Cassville, PA died Wednesday evening, February 27, 2013 at her home in Todd Township, Huntingdon County.
Susie was born in Newburg on May 16th, 1928 to the late Mary (Hunia) and John Didyk.
She was married to Charles Elwood Stapleton on March 14, 1953 at the Ashbury Church, Eagle Foundry. Her husband preceded her in death on August 12, 2008. They had 55 happy years of marriage. They resided in RD, Cassville for most of their married life. They enjoyed farming, raising Angus and chickens.
They had 3 daughters, Connie Cloud and husband Craig, Todd, PA; Mary Sanders and husband Tony, Greencastle, PA; and Brenda Witters and husband Sam, Cassville. They have 10 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
She had 5 brothers and 2 sisters. Her brothers, Frank, Paul, Tony, Joe, and Jake preceded in death along with her sister Anne Wilson. Her surviving siblings are Mary Didyk, who resides in Todd and John F. Didyk resides in Huntingdon.
She graduated from Robertsdale in 1947. She was in the band and played the trombone and the accordion.
Susie worked at the Mount Union Sewing Factory for over 20 years and retired from there. She enjoyed spending time with her husband and family. She loved to garden and can her own vegetables and fruit and enjoyed hunting. She spent many joyous and happy moments with her grandchildren on the farm.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, March 3, 2013 at the Crossview Missional Church, Saltillo, PA (map/directions) with Pastor Dan Mansberger officiating. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Cooks, PA. Friends may call at the church form 6—8:00 PM on Saturday and one hour prior to the service on Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Huntingdon Hospice, 9492 William Penn Highway, Suite 1, Huntingdon, PA 16652.
