Stallings, Jr, Deacon Willie Obituary

born on May 20, 1931 in Battleboro, North Carolina to Willie Gray Stallings, Sr. and Fannie Knight Stallings, both of whom preceded him in death. He peacefully entered into eternal rest on Friday, November 6, 2020, at home with “His Girls”, which is what he called his wife, daughter and youngest granddaughter. As a young man, he met and married the love of his life, Easter Bell Avent on March 25, 1957 and to this union three children were born. After the birth of their first son, they relocated to Washington, D.C., where they made their home. Willie worked many jobs over his lifetime and after many years of service he retired from the United Disposal Company and the Montgomery County Public School System. Willie gave his life to Christ at an early age at the Pittman Grove Baptist Church in Battleboro, NC, serving faithfully until he relocated and united with the Mount Carmel Baptist Church, where he served on the Junior and Senior Board of Deacons, the Senior Usher Board, the Brotherhood Ministry and the Culinary Committee. Actively serving until the COVID-19 virus temporarily shut the city down and the church went to a virtual platform. Willie’s faith never waivered, those who knew him best, affectionately called him “The Silent Soldier” because he did what needed to be done without discussion – a true servant of the people. Whether visiting the sick and shut-in, serving communion or lending a helping hand to a neighbor, he was always there if you needed him. Willie worked hard all of his life, most of the time while holding down two full-time jobs. He still made time to enjoy his family and friends, always spending time at church, the beach or in the park, he treasured the simple pleasures. He was an avid fisherman, grill master, gardener and handyman. He loved his wife, his children and gatherings with family and friends. Willie leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 63 years, Easter B. Stallings, two sons: William G. Stallings (Josephine) of Alexandria, VA; Christopher L. Stallings (Victoria) of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; one daughter: Bonnie T. Stallings of the home; Four Sister-in-Laws: Rosa Scott of Brandywine, MD; Estelle Robbins, Georgia Bunn and Doretha Johnson all of Rocky Mount, NC; seven grandchildren: Brianna T. Stallings of the home; Vershaun Springs, Tieesha Stallings, Nikkyla Nixon, Natasha Williams, Sabrina Stallings and Melissa Stallings. Eight Great Grandchildren; his extended children: Robert “Rick” Carter, Renée D. Brown and Dionne Davis, and a host of Nieces, Nephews, other Relatives and Friends.
