Kathleen Dossie Smith, 93, formerly of Three Springs, PA, died Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at the Shirley Home for the Aged, Shirleysburg, PA.

Born March 29, 1925 at Neelyton, PA, she was a daughter of the late John & Annie (Miller) McCartney. She was united in marriage to Harry James Smith on April 3, 1944 at Fousetown, MD. Mr. Smith preceded in death on August 12, 1986. 

She is survived by one grandson, Christopher Smith and wife Jessica of Wells Tannery, PA, two great grandchildren, Brayden and Kinleigh Smith, a daughter in law, Linda Smith of Huntingdon, PA and a number of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, including nieces Pam Crouse and Sue Wasson. She was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Smith, four brothers, William, Kenneth, Cloyd and Leonard McCartney and three sisters, Mildred Hollabaugh, Grace Ulsh and Zelda Hancock.

Mrs. Smith was a member of the First Baptist Church of Three Springs, where she enjoyed taking part in the monthly birthday dinners with her church friends. She graduated from Mt. Union High School in the Class of 1943.

She enjoyed helping in the community serving on the Board of the Southern Huntingdon County School District, secretary/treasurer of the Three Springs Borough Council and president of the Auxiliary of the Woodland Retirement Community now known as AristaCare at Woodland Park. She was also a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Madden-Wennick Post 518, American Legion, Rockhill Furnace, PA and was a member of the Three Springs Senior Citizens.

Mrs. Smith was employed at Greif Bros. Manufacturing, Inc., Mt. Union, PA and was also a part owner of Miller’s Restaurant, Three Springs, PA, also known by some as Mama’s Restaurant. 

She loved her family and friends and also loved to travel.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, April 29, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Three Springs, 8655 Hudson St., Three Springs, PA with Rev. David Ford officiating. Interment will be made privately at Three Springs Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 1:30 PM until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Three Springs, 8655 Hudson St., Three Springs, PA 17264 or to the Huntingdon County Humane Society, 11371 School House Hollow Road, Huntingdon, PA 16652. 

Arrangements are under the direction of the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, PA.
