Judy K. Slates, 63, of Waterfall Road, Three Springs, PA, passed peacefully on January 7, 2019 at UPMC Pinnacle, Harrisburg, PA after an extended illness.
Born August 10, 1955 at McConnellsburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late David, Sr. and Phyllis (Hamman) Slates.
She is survived by two children, Sam Clippinger and wife Julie and Bobbilynn Clippinger and husband Dan Scalf, all of Three Springs, PA, three stepchildren, Antonio Oppido and wife Justina of Mt. Joy, PA, Angela Foutz and husband Ryan of Columbia, PA and Nicole Oppido of Odenton, MD. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren and two siblings, Joyce “Cookie” Zeveney and husband David of Nanticoke, PA and David Slates, Jr. and wife Marcia of Shirleysburg, PA. One sister, Jeanne Fish, preceded in death.
Ms. Slates was the owner/operator of the family business, Slates Salvage, Waterfall Road, Three Springs, PA.
She was a lover of all animals. She was a “fur momma” to four schnauzers, Max, Milo, Matti and Minnie, along with Tater the cat.
Graveside services originally scheduled for Saturday, January 19, at Cherry Grove Cemetery, have been postponed due to the upcoming inclement weather. Plans are for services to be rescheduled for sometime in April and will be announced closer to that time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Huntingdon County Humane Society, 11371 School House Hollow Road, Huntingdon, PA 16652.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, PA.
