Sinclair, Cheryl Obituary

On September 4, 2015, “The” Maw Maw left this part of her eternal journey and was reunited with her parents, Emmett and Maid Lene Sims.  She will also be welcomed in Heaven by her late grandchildren Matthew Sinclair and Davin Weatherholtz.  Her battle with breast cancer finally ended as she took her final breath at approximately 6:30 pm with her two daughters – Melanie Margaret Weatherholtz and Karen Eileen Shollenberger – by her side.  Also surviving Cheryl is her husband of 46 years – Garland Gerald Sinclair, her son – Steven Mark Sinclair, her sister – Janet Doiron, her brother in law – Richard Doiron, two sons in law – Jason Weatherholtz and David Shollenberger, her daughter in law – Christine Sinclair, 16 grandchildren, one nephew – Benjamin Doiron, and two nieces – Renee Doiron and Christine Castillo.

Born on December 4, 1946, Cheryl’s legacy was one that was the epitome of dedication to family and faith to her Savior.  For many years, Cheryl was an active member at Battlefield Baptist Church in Gainesville, VA until recently moving to the Front Royal area.  Once there, she and her husband joined Rivermont Baptist Church and shared the blessings of fellowship, charity, and worship.

As for her family life, the countless sacrifices made throughout her life presented the character in which she desired everyone to model. Her example of life portrayed her love for everyone around her – especially her family.  Nothing made her happier or more proud than to see her loved ones become a true testimony of character.

A quote by Billy Graham sums up her legacy in a nutshell: “The greatest legacy one can pass on to one’s children and grandchildren is not money or other material things accumulated in one’s life, but rather a legacy of character and faith.”

Funeral services will begin at Rivermont Baptist Church on Friday, September 11 at 11am. The burial will be directly afterward at a nearby cemetery with a reception to follow (at Rivermont Baptist Church). The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Rivermont Baptist Church.  The leadership and members at Rivermont have been over-abundantly generous of their time and resources throughout Cheryl’s battle with cancer.
