Irving Leroy Rinker passed away peacefully with family by his side on Friday, July 20, 2012 at Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care. He was born in Reliance, Virginia on November 15, 1927, to Harry and Thurza (Headley) Rinker. He was a lifetime resident of Warren County, Virginia.
He was predeceased by his wife Sylvia (Kress), a sister Mary Lee Dysart of Woodstock and son Richard (Dickie). He is survived by four sisters: Lola and husband Charles Madagan of Middletown, Barbara Frameli of Reliance, Dorothy Ann Lockhart of Point Orange, FL, and Eleanor Faye Migliore of Riverview, FL. Also surviving are three children – Danny Rinker and wife Joan, of Vineland, ON, Canada, Diane McCreight and husband David, of Ocala, FL and Bradley Rinker and wife Susan, of Front Royal, VA. There are four grandchildren: Adam, Dawnya, April and Stephen; one great grandson; Kohl, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He retired as an industrial carpenter after 45 years with AVTEX Fibers in Front Royal, with leave to serve in the Navy during WWII. He was an avid farmer, raising beef cattle during his employment years and continuing to raise cattle throughout his retirement. He was a caring and generous father and husband, who left a legacy of a strong work ethic and the ability to strive for excellence. His memory will always be ingrained in our hearts.
Rev. Timothy Teates, Pastor Mark Jordon and Rev. Bill Wade will officiate at the service, which will be held at the Reliance United Methodist Church (map/directions) on Saturday, July 28, 2012 at 1 pm, with interment immediately following at Reliance Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Maddox Funeral Home, West Main Street, Front Royal (map/directions), from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2012.
Pallbearers will be family members Jim Bass, Brian Finerfrock, Spencer Harless, Adam Rinker, Stephen Rinker and family friend, Fred Rathel. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Derflinger, Max Ferrell, Arthur Gruver, Jim Hall, Robert Peffer, Ralph Powell, Randi Moore, Lindsey Adams, Warren and Gloria Nelson.
The Rinker family would like to express their deepest thanks to Drs. Melanie Mattson and Jack Wright, to the Palliative Medicine Consultants, to the third floor nurses at the Winchester Medical Center, and Blue Ridge Hospice Inpatient Care nurses for their care of our beloved father.
