Merrill Roy Regi, 92, of Great Cove Road, Fort Littleton, PA died Tuesday afternoon, November 20, 2012 at the Harrisburg Hospital, Harrisburg, PA.
Born July 29, 1920 in Dublin Township, Fulton County, PA, he was the son of the late Brinton B. and Lucille Shadle Regi. He was first married to Helen M. Peck who died June 26, 1984. He later married Eleanor Knepper who is also deceased.
Mr. Regi is survived by five children: Gail R. Regi, Fort Littleton; Lennis Regi and wife Melinda, McConnellsburg; Barry A. Regi, Fort Littleton; Denise L. Stains and husband Bob, Three Springs, PA; and Roger Regi, Fort Littleton.
One granddaughter, Nicole Kotmair and five great grandchildren, Jared, Kaylee, Katey, Kelly and Brianna survive.
One grandson, Carl E. Johnson is deceased.
One brother and three sisters also survive: Gerald Regi, Carlisle, PA; Beulah Gordon, St. Thomas, PA; Audrey Hutchinson, Carlisle; and Dorothy Henry, Fort Littleton, PA. One brother, Wayne Regi and a sister are deceased.
Mr. Regi was a member of the Knobsville Church of the Brethren, McConnellsburg, PA.
He was a longtime employee of Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg with over 30 years service.
Mr. Regi was a World War II veteran serving in Europe with the US Army. He served in Tunisia, Naples-Foggia, Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was awarded the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars and 1 Bronze Arrowhead along with the Distinguished Unit Badge with 1 OLC.
He was a former member of the VFW and American Legion in McConnellsburg.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM, Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Knobsville Church of the Brethren, McConnellsburg, PA (map/directions) with Pastor Chris Elliott officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, McConnellsburg. Friends may call at the church from 6—9:00 PM on Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
The Fulton Honor Guard will provide memorial services at the cemetery.
The M. R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, PA is in charge of arrangements.
