Quick, Shirley Obituary

Shirley Quick, 75, of Washington, DC died on July 17, 2015 at MedStar Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC.  

 

Shirley was born on May 10, 1940 in Washington DC to the late Evelyn Thomas and raised by the late Quintella Primrose. In September of 1956 she was married to the late Avery Quick Sr. and from that union they had eight children Sharon (Paul) Coleman, Debbie Jones, Avery Quick, Jr. (Linda), Roddell Quick (Deborah), Keith (Brenda) Quick, Kenneth Quick, Yvette Quick Simpson (Juan), and Avis Quick.  Shirley was preceded in death by her sister Clara Lightfoot and brothers Maurice Primrose and James Thomas. 

 

Besides all of her children, she is survived by her 12 grandchildren; Terrierica, Lewis, Tiffany, Shawntice, Avery III, Anthony, Derian, Waynicia, Ivory, Renando, Ashley, and Kenneth.  As well as 13 brothers and sisters, Fred, Robert, Joyce, Barbara, Marian, Sharon, Carol, Carolyn, Deborah, Armenta, Michael, Gary, and Robin. Shirley had 23 Great-Grandchildren, and a wealth of adoring aunts, an uncle, nieces, nephews, and friends. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Debra Osborne-Quick who she shared a close bond. Shirley also had the honor of cherished friendships with Alice Meada, Queen Young, Shirley Winston, and Veronica Lewis. 

 

Viewing will be on Saturday, July 25, 2015, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at New Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church, 4417 Douglas Street, NE, Washington, DC 20019 with services starting immediately after at 12:00 pm.  It will be officiated by Bishop Earl A. Ross.
