John Edward Pollard
January 27, 1944 - January 20, 2012
John Edward Pollard, Jr. passed away on January 20, 2012. He was born in Alexandria, Virginia on January 27, 1944 to John Edward Pollard and Jewell M. Lewis. John spent his early childhood in Providence, Rhode Island where he lived with the Reverend and Mrs. Benjamin Watkins. He later returned to Alexandria to complete his education, graduating from Parker-Gray High School while working part time at the Alexandria Hospital. Upon graduation, Mr. Pollard served four years in the U.S. Air Force. He returned home to marry his high school sweetheart, Wilhelmina Ford. Two children were born from this union; Dyna Pollard Amey and Josiah Pollard.
In addition to these two children, John Pollard Jr. is survived by a third child; Joshua Pollard; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, three sisters; Florence Watkins, Jane Pollard and Helen Ruby Williams, one brother; Albert Pollard, nieces; Mary Butler, Jennie Scott, Brenda Strickland and Linda Epps, a devoted friend; Brenda James plus a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A graveside service will be held at Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, Virginia (map/directions) on Monday, January 30, 2012 at 12:00 noon.
