David Raymond Pollock, 85, of East Catherine Street, Chambersburg, PA, died at 12:45 PM Saturday, February 1, 2014 at his home.

 

Born February 17, 1928 in Newton Hamilton, Mifflin Co., PA, he was the son of the late Oscar F. and Blanche B. (Hamilton) Pollock.  He was married to Viola N. Brown on November 11, 1950 at Mt. Union, PA.  Mrs. Pollock survives at home.

 

Mr. Pollock is survived by three children:  David R. Pollock, Jr., Chambersburg; Dennis R. Pollock and wife Leanne, McConnellsburg, PA; and Penny S. Mitchell and husband Brian, Lebanon, PA.  

 

There are five grandchildren:  David R. Pollock III, Chambersburg; Nicole Fletcher and husband Jeremy, McConnellsburg; Dane Pollock, McConnellsburg; Jesse Mitchell and wife Stephanie, Lebanon; and Carrie Ehrgood and husband Peter, Lebanon.  

 

Three great grandchildren survive:  Gavyn Mitchell, Jeron Fletcher, and Jace Fletcher.

 

There are two brothers and four sisters:  Oscar Pollock, Woodland, GA; Jack Pollock and wife Gail, Mapleton Depot, PA; Thelma Pyles, Mt. Union, PA; Bertha Renninger and Delores Booher, both of Kistler, PA; and Evelyn Glover and husband Hal, Newton Hamilton, PA.  Three brothers and one sister are deceased:

Fern Pollock, Gladys Gaisior, Robert Pollock, and Richard Pollock.

 

Mr. Pollock was a member of the Open Door Church, Chambersburg where he attended for forty years.  

 

He served in the US Army from 1949-1950.  

 

He retired in 1989 after 28 years with James River Corp., Chambersburg.  Prior to that he had worked at Knouse Foods for 12 years.  

 

Mr. Pollock loved his children and grandchildren and spending time with them.  He liked hunting, fishing and especially enjoyed taking care of his yard.  

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at the Open Door Church, 600 Miller Street, Chambersburg, PA  17201 with Pastor Mike Sanders and Pastor Carl McKee officiating.  Interment will be at Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.  Friends may call at the church from 6-8:00 PM on Monday and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.

 

Arrangements are by M. R. Brown Funeral Home, Inc., Hustontown, PA.
