Robert A. Phillips

Robert Arthur Phillips, 95, formerly of Covered Bridge Road, Shade Gap, PA, died at 7:50 AM, Monday, September 26, 2016 at Woodland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Orbisonia, PA.

Born September 13, 1921 in Beckley, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Jacob and Anna Phillips.

He was married to Grace W. Phillips who preceded in death on January 24, 2002.

Mr. Phillips is survived by two stepchildren:  Laura Osgood of Saugus, MA and William Sarro of Sarasota, FL.  One daughter, Norma Phillips, and one stepson, James Sarro, preceded in death.

There are 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Mr. Phillips was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Croghan Pike, Orbisonia, PA.

Mr. Phillips was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army.

He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 28 years of service.  He also held a Radio Telephone Operator license and was a repairman.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, September 28, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 20896 Croghan Pike, Orbisonia, PA with Reverend Father Joseph Fleming officiating.  Interment will be at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, adjacent to the church.  Friends may call at the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, 565 Ridgley Street, Orbisonia, PA from 9:30-10:30 AM on Wednesday.
