Penamon, William Obituary

William Herbert Penamon, son of the late Theodore and Pearl Elizabeth Penamon, peacefully departed this life on February 13, 2016, at Georgetown University Hospital.   He was born in Washington, DC and educated in the D.C. public school system, having attended Morgan Elementary School and Francis Junior High.

After receiving his Associates of Art Degree, William worked as a nurse aide.  William later studied at the Moorish Science Temple of America, where he was raised in the adept charmer of the organization to become Grand Sheik, while living in Kansas.

William was a humble-spirited philosopher and teacher who was loved by everyone.  He traveled the world and met many people of different nationalities and religions.   Even though he had no children of his own, he was a father to many.   He had strong beliefs in the value of family and was always concerned with the family’s wellbeing.  He was a very giving person who would actually give you his last penny if you needed it.

One of William’s quotes was:  “The skin can’t think, the bones can’t reason, the blood can’t comprehend, that leaves your soul and spirit moving on.”  He would also say, “Old shoes, new shoes, where do you go from here?”

William was predeceased by two brothers, Theodore Jr. and George Penamon, and one sister Idella Newman.

He leaves to mourn and treasure precious memories his wife Doris Penamon, six sisters Louise Anna Penamon-Johnson, Pearl Rosemary Penamon-Wilson (Charles), Sarah Penamon Carson Diagne, Shirley Newman-Osigwe, Maria Newman-Bowman (John); Renee Davis-Berry, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and friends.
