Mercer, Jr., William Obituary

On May 31, 1959, God spoke a word of life, and William Leon Mercer, Jr., was born  to loving and devoted parents; William Mercer Sr., and the late Hermie Lee Stoutamire, in Washington, DC.

William was the fifth child of nine children born in the union.

He was reared in a very caring, loving, and giving home with his siblings. William's childhood was filled with memories of family and friends. At an early age he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior.

William received his education in the DC public school system.

He was later employed by the Department of Public Works in Washington DC. William was a very versatile man; a man of many talents.

His work history included; yard work, cleaning, landscaping, and automobile repair services. William was also a man who had a love for music. He could do it all. He was a professional. William had the talent, and the gift to create and make music. He developed and created melodious and harmonious lyrics out of  his own tunes.

William was a first-class dresser. When he got dressed he looked good from head to toe. He had a big heart, and in his heart was a strong passion for his family. He was loved by everyone who came in contact with him.

A host of witnesses and loved ones will cherish his precious memories forever. He was a devoted father to three sons; one of which preceded him in death, Antonio. He is survived by two sons, William III (Keisha) and Devon. He is also survived by his loving and devoted father William L. Mercer Sr., and his step mother Jeroline Mercer; four brothers; Derek, Shawls, Anthony and Gary; six sisters Gwendolyn, Carolyn, Jacqueline, Angela, Karen and Denise; one sister-in-law Denise; one brother-in-law James; eight grandchildren; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and a host of other relatives and friends. William will also be missed by Anthony Dixon, a longtime friend, his loving and supportive friends at Garfield Terrace apartments. Not to mention  his pets that he loved and cherished so much (his dogs).

Good night for now our beloved, take your rest, we loved you, but God loved you best!  We will see you in the morning!
