McCluskey, Joseph Obituary

Joseph McCluskey died in his sleep at Geisinger Hospital in Wilkes-Barre, PA. He was 95 years old. The son of Joseph and Mary McCluskey, Joe grew up in Sussex, NJ. He was employed by Dailey's Garage before going into business for himself at the Beemerville Garage in NJ, where he remained for many years. After retirement he continued working part-time at various garages.

He was pre-deceased by brothers, Frank, who died in WWII, and Vincent, a Catholic Priest in Flanders, NJ and sisters Mary of Philadelphia, PA, and Frances, of Sussex, NJ and a nephew, Paul.

He married Ruth Fielden in 1952 and they celebrated 66 years of marriage. They had three sons who made their lives complete.

Joe enjoyed his life at the garage in Beemerville, working with young men who to this day thank Joe for teaching them many of the skills that have helped them throughout their lives. Wherever he went, Joe was well-liked and made life-long friends, a true testament to his many long years of life.

Joe and Ruth with their sons lived in the Sussex area for many years. Nearing retirement they moved to Matamoras, PA and spent winters at their home in Scottsdale, AZ, where they were privileged to help raise their three grandchildren. After 22 years in Matamoras and Arizona, they relocated to Moody, MEto assist in the Celtic store owned by their son, Mike and his wife, Lois. After 12 years in ME they returned to PA to live in Milford Landing in Westfall Township to be closer to the family.

Joe is survived by his wife Ruth and their three sons, Joseph John McCluskey and his wife Donna, of Woodland Park, NJ; James Franklin McCluskey and his wife, Beth, of Raleigh, NC; and Jay Michael McCluskey and his wife, Lois, of Sparta, NJ. Also surviving Joe are his grandchildren, Lori Ann, and Jason of Woodland Park, NJ; Daryn Dree and her husband Christopher, living in Tucson, AZ; Cody James of Raleigh, NC and Devan Leigh of Santa Monica, CA.

Joe has been granted his wish to be cremated with his remains to be kept and reunited with his wife upon her death. Funeral arrangements are being made by Stroyan Funeral Home in Milford, PA. There will be no visitation.
