Maynor, Basil Obituary

Basil Maynor, the son of James L. Maynor and the late Mary McPhatter Maynor, was born in Washington, D.C. on May 5, 1961.

He attended D.C. public schools: Gage-Eckington Elementary, Shaw Junior High School, and graduated from Cardozo Senior High School in 1979.

He was the youngest of five children and the only son, which caused Basil to become very special to his mom, dad, and four sisters.  He worked for the District Government, Department of Human Services.  He was well loved by all his coworkers.  Basil’s passion was listening to music and watching old movies when it wasn’t football season.  A True Cowboys Fan he was!!!  In 1999, Basil became ill with Renal Failure, and being the strong person that he was, he never complained!!!  He always enjoyed family time and telling jokes until the end!!!  Basil had a special bond with all of his nieces and nephews, it was never a dull moment with their uncle Basil.

His life memories are left to be cherished by his father, James Maynor; sisters: Daisy, Robin, Vernetta and Frenzell; aunts, Mable, Vera, Lillian and Mytle; nephews, Steve Turner(Shawn), James Gaston(Dawn), Robert Corbin, Kevin and Kevon Maynor; nieces, Sherise Smith(Dewayne), Shamika Garnett, Dana Riley(Bre), Sherray Garnett, Ryann Alexander; twenty one great-nieces and nephews and one who preceded him in death (Stephon Langley) and a host of other relatives and special friends.
