Allen Barry Mauck, 69, of Stephens City went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 16, 2012, in his home surrounded by his family.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at Maddox Funeral Home (map/directions) conducted by The Rev. Larry Andrews. Burial will follow at Panorama Memorial Gardens (map/directions) with military honors.
Mr. Mauck was born May 27, 1943, in Covington, son of the late Samuel R. and Lucille Golliday Mauck. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in the Vietnam War where he received a National Defense Service Medal and a Vietnam Service Medal. He received a personal Letter of Commendation from the Commanding Officer of the USS Tripoli for outstanding performance of his duties in providing weather information for eight successful amphibious operations in Vietnam. He was a member of Giles B. Cook Post 53 of the American Legion.
Barry loved the Lord with all his heart and loved his family dearly. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, woodworking, and was an avid Cowboys fan. Two of his best friends were his pet dogs Bailey and Killian.
Surviving are his wife Brenda; two daughters Alicia Hicks (Dean) and Shannon Mauck (Kurt) both of Front Royal; a son Barry Mauck of Arlington; two sisters Tina Hamman (Ben) of Bloomery, WV and Annabelle Martin of Leesburg; six grandchildren Cody and Matthew Frantz, Zachary and Andrew Hicks, and Kara and Kaylee Mondrone; and a special niece Luci Sloat. He was preceded in death by a brother Jake Mauck and a sister Linda Flick.
Pallbearers will be Ben Hamman, Dean Hicks, Cody Frantz, Andrew Hicks, Tommy Tharpe, and Tommy Tharpe, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Zachary Hicks, Matthew Frantz, and Alic Sloat.
The family will receive friends at Maddox Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
