Mahon, Lucille Obituary

Lucille Mahon (née Mazzeo), age 84, of Milford, Pa, formerly of Seaford New York passed away Sunday, October 7th, 2018. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's Hospital School of Practical Nursing in 1955 and a loving woman full of faith and friendship. Lucille was a religious member of St. Vincent De Paul’s Church and a cornerstone to her family. She met her late husband and patient, John Mahon while tending to him in 1958. In 1969 she began her career as a nurse at Mid-Island Hospital in Bethpage, NY. Lucille and John had 3 children and after many happy years on Long Island, retired to Dingman’s Ferry.

Lucille was a wonderful chef and never let a mouth starve in her company; a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend who loved to entertain. Throughout her life she always wore a smile, a contagious sign of her happiness that she shared with everyone around her.

Lucille was a kind and caring woman, she had a love of travel and toured the world with her husband. Among their many escapades, two of her favorite trips were Israel and Holland. Lucille was always taking photos of her travels, her children and her grandchildren. One of her favorite hobbies included scrapbooking, in which she would collect her favorite mementos and photographs from her travels and of moments in her grandchildren’s lives. She would write letters corresponding to the photos and tell a full story in her scrapbooks.

Preceded in death by her parents Joseph Mazzeo and Bernadine Rizzotto, husband of 55 years John P. Mahon and son John B. Mahon. She is survived by her sister, Anita Catalano; daughters, Bernadette and her husband, John Guerra and Cynthia and her husband David Lopez; 5 grandchildren, Ariel Guerra, Gabrielle Lopez, Steven Lopez, Danielle Lopez and Anthony Guerra; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given by the Cardiac Unit at Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 AM on Monday, October 15, 2018 at St. Vincent de Paul Church, Milford, PA with Msgr. Remigio Rocco officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
