Hilda Luhrs

Hilda “Shorty” Carpenter Luhrs of Milford, PA, passed away on December 12, 2018 in Milford, PA.  She was 95.

Daughter of the late, Gaylord and Louise Carpenter, she was born November 16, 1923 in East Stroudsburg, PA.

Shorty was a retired nurse at St. Francis Hospital.  Along with her late husband, Albert, she was a co-founder of Luhrs True Value. Shorty was an active member of the Episcopal Church and the Altar Guild throughout her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.  She was an avid baseball fan, a great friend, and loved the life she created in Milford.

Shorty leaves behind four children; Susan Blanco and her husband, Joseph, of Knoxville, TN; Thomas Luhrs and his wife, Roxanne, of Milford, PA; James Luhrs and his wife, Wendy, of Milford, PA; and Douglas Luhrs, and his wife, Penney, of Milford, PA; sister, Grace Hamor, of Port Jervis, NY; eleven grandchildren, Jennifer Blanco, Marissa Luhrs, Erin Rio, Ashley Spears, Dustin Luhrs, Jeffery Luhrs, Kevin Luhrs, Whitney Luhrs, Rhea Luhrs, Connor Luhrs, Dana Wedinger; and eight beloved great grandchildren.

She is predeceased by her husband, Albert Luhrs and sisters; Ester Scott and Marge Hastings.

Friends may call at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 W. Harford St., Milford, PA on Sunday, December 16, 2018 from 3 to 5 PM.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM on Monday, December 17, 2018 at the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Milford, PA with Rev. Van A. Bankston officiating.
