Claude “C.L.” Longerbeam, 59, of Stephens City, died Tuesday, July 24, 2012, in the Winchester Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 28th, at 11:00 a.m. at Prospect Hill Cemetery (map/directions) conducted by a chaplain from the Prince William County Fire and Rescue Department.  Present for the service will also be the Prince William County Fire and Rescue Department Honor Guard.  

Mr. Longerbeam was born March 4, 1953, in Front Royal, son of John Thomas and Hazel Rust Longerbeam.  He was a retired lieutenant with the Prince William County Fire and Rescue Department with 26 years of service.  He enjoyed golfing, cooking, landscaping, nature, and wildlife. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife Marsha Stollings Longerbeam; a sister Linda Longerbeam Hazelette of Front Royal and her husband Donald “Curley”; a brother John T. “Rusty” Longerbeam; a step-daughter Catherine Powell of Linville; his mother-in-law Florence Stollings of Stephens City; three nieces Lisa Hazelette Morris and her husband Rob, Lori Hazelette Greene and her husband Dan, and Lindsay Hazelette; and five grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Honorary pallbearers will be Victor Williams, Timothy Aleshire, Jeffrey Cook, John Sperka, Douglas Ewell, Douglas Purdham, Dave McIntosh, and Joey Dofflemyer.

Family and friends are invited to a reception following the service at the Front Royal Golf Club.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Warren County, 1245 Progress Dr., Front Royal, VA  22630 or a charity of your choice.
