Lavender, Sr., Thomas Obituary

Born February 11, 1953 to Thomas Lavender Sr. and Juanita Pace Woods in a small rural town in deBastrop, Arkansas, Thomas Lavender, Jr. affectionately known as BlueJay, left this life Sunday, March 23, 2014 at sunset.

He came to Washington, DC at the young age of 11 with his family. He was a member of New Mt. Olivet Apostolic Church, under the leadership of Bishop Hopeton Mair.

Since 1989, he worked as an Environmental Service attendant for the United Medical Center (formerly Greater Southeast Community Hospital). He also worked for the Melwood Horticultural Training Center located in Upper Marlboro, MD.

As a maven of the great outdoors, Mr. Lavender opened his own landscaping company (TL Landscaping). He also took pleasure in aquatic life and Canine.

Mr. Lavender was the husband of one wife (predeceased). During this union the couple had three children: Thomas Lavelle Lavender (Danita), Helen (predeceased) and Dewayne Lavender. He is survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, friends and colleagues
