Kulp, James Obituary

James D. Kulp, 70, of Middletown, Virginia, died Monday, August 5, 2013, in the Winchester Medical Center.

A graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 11, at 1:00 p.m. in the Lindale Mennonite Church Cemetery in Harrisonburg conducted by Pastors Jim and Aldine Musser. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Stephens City Mennonite Church in Stephens City.

Mr. Kulp was born April 26, 1943, in Sellersville, Pennsylvania, son of Floyd Kulp of Harrisonburg and the late Gladys Derstein Kulp. He was a retired juvenile probation counselor with the State of Virginia.

Mr. Kulp received a Master’s of Education degree from James Madison University. He was an amateur radio operator and life member of the ARRL.  He was a member of Stephens City Mennonite Church. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a great appreciation for music.

Surviving with his father are his wife Joan C. Kulp; two sons J. Bradley Kulp of Perkasie, Pennsylvania and Carlin Kulp of Middletown; two daughters Brenda Donigan of Collegeville, Pennsylvania and Christina Kulp of Madison, Wisconsin; a brother Don Kulp of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; a sister Janice Long of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home in Front Royal.
