Mary Elizabeth “Mom” Knepper, 97, a resident of the Long Term Care unit of the Fulton County Medical Center for nearly four years, McConnellsburg, PA and formerly of Waterfall, PA died at 2:45 a.m., Friday, November 22, 2013 at the medical center.

Born August 24, 1916 in Dublin Mills, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Violet (Russell) Grissinger.  She was married to David P. Knepper on September 20, 1934.  Mr. Knepper preceded in death on February 2, 1967.

Mrs. Knepper is survived by four daughters and two sons; Mary Jane Black and husband John, McConnellsburg, PA; Dorothy Spade and husband Coy, Needmore, PA; Violet Culler and husband Fred, McConnellsburg; Charles Knepper and wife Penny, Waterfall; David A. Knepper and wife Gayle, Chambersburg; and Sharon Snyder and husband Joe, Hustontown, PA along with son-in-law Ronnie Foreman, Broad Top, PA.  A daughter Edith Forman and daughter Shirley Parsons and husband Bill are deceased.

A grandson, David Foreman; great grandson, Ryan Foreman; and great granddaughter Sierra Coons are deceased.

A sister Betty Lane survives of Cleaves, Ohio.   

Four sisters and one brother are deceased: Grace Grissinger, Clara Group, Bertha Curfman, Eva Cornelius and Allen Grissinger.

There are 22 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren.  

Mrs. Knepper was a member of Center United Methodist Church, Waterfall, PA where she belonged to the church’s Women’s Group.  She also belonged to the Knobsville Single’s Club and the Hustontown Area Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a homemaker.

Mrs. Knepper enjoyed spending time with her family at North 40 Camp in Lycoming County.  She liked flower gardening, quilting, reading, bus trips and spending time with her grandchildren. She had traveled to India to visit her children and grandchildren.  

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 25, 2013 at the Center United Methodist Church, Waterfall, PA with Pastor Richard Bernhard and Pastor Betty Secrest officiating.  Interment will be in Center Cemetery.  Friends may call at the M. R. Brown Funeral Home, 301 Pitt Street, Hustontown, PA  17229 from 4—8:00 p.m. on Sunday and at the church one hour prior to the service on Monday.
