Vena W. Jones

Vena W. “Dot” Jones, 93, died Monday, October 10, 2016 at Penn Hall Nursing Home, Chambersburg, PA.

Born September 19, 1923 in Orbisonia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Walls) Chilcote.

She was married to Howard “Max” Jones who preceded in death on October 19, 2002.

She graduated from Orbisonia High School in 1941.  She graduated from Juniata College with a B.S. degree and received a Master’s degree from the Pennsylvania State University.  

Vena, also known as “Dot”, taught music at West Mifflin and Pittsburgh for many years.

She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.  

She and her husband traveled to Europe, especially France, many times.  First by ship, and then by plane.  They visited places where her husband was located during the second World War.

After retirement, they moved to a Menno Haven cottage, also known as Penn Hall.  She loved her cottage.

Mrs. Jones was the last member of her immediate family.  She is survived by two nieces, Jean Lukens and Joan Renaldi.  She also has many great nieces and nephews.

As per her wishes, private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at the I. O. O. F. Memorial Cemetery, Rockhill Furnace, PA with Rev. Ed Seeley officiating.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Martin R. Brown Funeral Home, Orbisonia, PA.
