Aulene Hunter, 88, of Dingmans Ferry, PA and formerly of Franklin, NJ passed away Thursday, February 27, 2014 at home. She earned her Teaching Degree from SUNY at New Paltz, NY and was a gifted teacher who touched many lives by devoting 33 years of service to Franklin Elementary School, in Franklin, NJ. In 1985 she was recognized with the New Jersey Governors Award of Excellence by being named Teacher of the Year.
She was also a great supporter of the Franklin Band of which her husband was the director for many years. Nick-named Sparky, she moved to Dingmans Ferry nine years ago where she enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, bird watching, sewing, and most of all spending time with her 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Aulene was predeceased in 1982 by her husband Walter Hunter. Survivors include three daughters: Wendy Geuther of Stillwater, NJ, Dacey Hunter of Matthews, NC, Holly Bradley of Dingmans Ferry, PA; and one sister: Lois English of Bogart, GA.
Services and cremation will take place at the convenience of the family.
