Betty Jane Horton

Betty Jane Horton, 80, of Trough Creek Valley Pike, Calvin, PA, died at 2:59 PM, Monday, May 16, 2016 at her home.
    
Born June 4, 1935 at Three Springs, PA, she was a daughter of the late James & Marjorie (Drake) Saylor. She was married to Dale Horton on October 31, 1953. Mr. Horton preceded in death on September 9, 1986.

Surviving are five siblings, Jimmy Saylor of Newburg, PA, Carol Hannon of Alfaretta, PA, Max Saylor of Broad Top, PA, Gail Saylor of Todd, PA and Nancy Jeffries of Mill Creek, PA.  One brother, David Saylor and two sisters, Tye Schrock and Martha Blair, preceded in death.

Mrs. Horton was a member of the Beavertown Church of God, RD, Todd, PA, where she had served as a pianist and a Sunday School teacher for the young children.

She had been employed at the former Claudia Footwear, Wood, PA and later for Stanley Home Products where she did demonstrations in homes for 35 years.

She always had a positive outlook and enjoyed playing the piano, taking care of her lawn, her flower gardens, her garden and was an accomplished seamstress who never had a lesson. She also enjoyed reading her Bible, her dog and watching the birds and rabbits.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, May 20, 2016 at the Robert I. McClain Funeral Home, 245 Seminary St., Cassville, PA with Pastor Dan Long officiating. Interment will be made at Trough Creek Cemetery, Todd, PA. Friends may call at the funeral home 7 – 9 PM on Thursday and 11:00 AM until the hour of the service on Friday.
