David R. Hinton, 91, of NJ Veterans Memorial Home, Paramus, NJ passed away on April 28, 2016.

The son of the late Oris and Pearl (Powell) Hinton, he was born on April 30, 1924 in Englewood, NJ. David graduated from Dwight Morrow High School in 1942 and served his country in the Army Air Corps. as a “Tuskegee Airman”. After returning home, David finished at Howard University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. His career included working on radio systems for the Gemini and Apollo projects. In 1970, he started Universal Microfilm and Microfiche Inc. in Bergenfield, NJ. Before retiring as a civil servant, he was a purchasing director for the City of Englewood,  He was awarded the New Jersey Distinguished Service Award on May 19, 2015 and also took part in the Veteran’s History Project by submitting his oral history.

David is survived by son James David Hinton and wife Josephine of Sanford, FL; daughter Beverly Hinton Beers and husband Howard of Dingmans Ferry, PA; grandchildren, Joshua David Beers of Philadelphia, PA and Daniel, Samuel, and Esther Beers of Dingmans Ferry, PA.

Cremation took place at the convenience of the family. Final interment will take place at Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetery at a later date.
