Jerry Ray Hill
March 18, 1939 - June 7, 2012
Jerry Ray Hill died in his home in Front Royal on Thursday, June 7, 2012.
Mr. Hill was born on March 18, 1939 to Marian Pauline and Ralph W. Hill in Sedan, Kansas. Jerry’s father eventually moved the family to Colorado where Jerry spent the remainder of his childhood and young adulthood. He graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder.
Jerry served in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Germany and Japan.
In 1966 Jerry began his career as a civil servant via an intern program within the Denver office of the U.S. Civil Service Commission. Two years later he was transferred to headquarters in Washington, D.C. There he met Mary Kathryn Showers. Mary and Jerry married in 1973.
In 1994 both Mary and Jerry retired from the Federal Government and returned to Front Royal, Mary Kathryn’s birthplace. But their dream of a long and active retirement was shattered when Mary died unexpectedly in July 1996.
Jerry is survived by his sister-in-law Barbara Gail Bisson of Front Royal.
