Henry, Lessie Obituary

On Wednesday, March 30, 2016, God called his beloved daughter Lessie Mae Williams Henry home to rest in paradise. Lessie Mae Williams was born on May 15, 1930 in Bentonville, North Carolina to Mr. Henderson and Mrs. Lonmie Altman Williams. Lessie gave her life to Christ at an early age. She attended the public school system in Johnston County, North Carolina.

In 1949 she met the love of her life William Dean Henry. After they married they moved to Fayetteville, NC in 1976. She was a member of Smith’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church for 38 years. The Henry’s were happily married for 40 plus years. She then moved to Washington, DC.

On Sunday, November 9, 2014 Lessie Mae joined Purity Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Robin A. Toogood, II. Lessie was a loving and gentle soul. She was always willing to lend a helping hand any and everywhere she could. She loved to travel, spend time with family, friends and church family. Lessie has a vibrant sense of humor. Lessie was a dynamic cook and baker. Her specialty was her moist chocolate cake and her sweet potato pies.

Preceding her in death were her parents Mr. and Mrs. Henderson Williams and her husband William Dean Henry.

She leaves to cherish her memory: five sons Bobby Joe (Carolyn) Henry, Robert (Gloria) Henry, Wilfred and Winfred Henry, Ricky Henry and one daughter Belinda (Arthur) Sumner; two sisters: Mary Lois Bell and Mary Alice (Douglas) Womack; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
