Alfred W. Hankin, 88 of Dingmans Ferry, PA, passed away Friday, May 10, 2014 at home. He was a retired Lieutenant for the New York City Fire Department, Pike County Deputy Sheriff, and driver for Pike County Transportation. Al was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Dingmans Ferry, PA, Tilgman Angle Smith American Legion Post # 851, Dingmans Ferry, PA, Roosa Fleming VFW Post # 161, Port Jervis, NY, Submarine Veterans of WW II, Uniformed Firefighters Association, Uniformed Firefighters Officers Association, volunteer and Life Member of Rockville Center Fire Department, NY and a U.S. Navy WW II veteran.
The son of the late Alfred and Caroline (Roser) Hankin, he was born February 5, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY. He was married to Eunice (Small) Hankin.
Survivors include his wife; daughter Wendy Accardo and her husband Sylvester Jr. of Dingmans Ferry, PA; four grandchildren: Carrie Betsch and her husband Chris, Kristen Odynsky and her husband Mike, Daniel and Ryan; great grandchildren: Kyle, Kylie Kaitlyn, Kara, Julie and Joshua; sister Doris Amburgey of OH. He was predeceased by his sons Russell and Alfred Hankin, Jr.
Friends may call at Stroyan Funeral Home, 405 West Harford St., Milford, PA on Monday, May 12, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Dingmans Ferry, PA on Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Niels Nielsen officiating. Burial will follow in Milford Cemetery, Dingman Township, PA with military honors.
