Mary Alice Gunnet

Mary Alice Gunnet, 81, a resident of Valley View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Altoona, PA and formerly of Three Springs, PA died Friday evening, August 2, 2013 at Valley View.
Born August 28, 1931 in Brooklyn, NY, she was the daughter of the late James J. and Mary E. (Healy) Smith. She was married to John Nevin Gunnet on November 11, 1949 in Brooklyn. Mr. Gunnet preceded in death on March 9, 2009.
Mrs. Gunnet is survived by a daughter, Deborah A. Wagner and husband Louis, Mapleton, PA, a grandson Christopher D. Henry and wife Aubrianna and their daughter (great granddaughter) Natalya of Marshfield, WI.
Two brothers survive, James Smith and wife Rose, North Moultonboro, NH and Robert Smith and wife Deborah, Shreveport, LA. An infant sister and three brothers, Gerard, Thomas and David Smith are deceased.
Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Mrs. Gunnet was educated in the Catholic School System in Brooklyn, NY.
A homemaker most of her life, in her early years Mrs. Gunnet was a long distance operator for Bell Telephone Company.
The Gunnets spent most of their married life in York, PA. In the late 1990’s, they relocated to Huntingdon county to be closer to their daughter.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Bowman’s Chapel Cemetery, Mapleton, PA.
