Jack Millard Garst, 81, of Front Royal, Va., departed this life peacefully on Tuesday, July 24, 2012.
A memorial service and celebration of life will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 4, 2012, at Rockland Community Church, in Front Royal (map/directions).
Mr. Garst was born October 8, 1930, in Salem, Va., son of the late Frazier and Kathleen Willett Garst. Jack was a retired Superintendent of Land Development for Elm Street Development in Northern Virginia, and he served as the project manager for the development of many outstanding and award winning communities. He was instrumental in the training of many young project managers, and was the first winner of the PROS Award for Land Development Superintendent in the Washington D.C. region. Mr. Garst also served in the United States Army as a Sergeant in the Korean War.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; two daughters, Rhonda Smith and husband Bill, Pamela Reilly and husband Richard; five grandchildren, David Smith, Brian Smith, Kevin Reilly, Joseph Reilly, and Tara Reilly; four sisters, Nancy Moules, Shirley Garst, Sarah Fergusson, and Sandra Galliard; three brothers, Frank Garst, David Garst, and Dr. Peter Garst. He also had many other relatives and friends.
