James Wilbert Fogal, 81, of Neelyton, died on his farm on Tuesday, July 28, 2015.

Born April 12, 1934, in the J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon, Pa, he was the son of the late Wilbert V. and Grace (Whitsel) Fogal.
 
He was united in marriage to Eleanor Parsons Fogal on July 2, 1952, in Winchester, Virginia.  Shortlly after their marriage in 1952, Eleanor contracted polio.   Jim, faithfully and lovingly, provided her care for 57 years.  Mrs. Fogal preceded him in death April 11, 2009.  

Mr. Fogal is survived by his daughter Jama Hampson and husband, Tim of Neelyton and his granddaughter, Jenna Shae Hampson, of Neelyton.  

Also surviving are the following sisters:  Mary Fogal Montague of Neelyton and Patricia Fogal Wolford of Orbisonia.  

He was known as "Uncle Jim"  to numerous loving nieces and nephews.  

Mr. Fogal was preceded in death by a foster son, Robert Bollman, and an infant son.  
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Fogal Tree.    

Jim was a dedicated Christian, a charter member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and for many years served as Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, served on the Visitation Committee and was Chairmain of the Board of Trustees.  He loved music and sang in the choir.  In 2006 Jim attended and became a member of the Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church in Spring Run where he was an Elder and sang in the choir.

He attended the Neelyton Elementary School and graduated from the Orbisonia High School, class of 1950.

Before his retirement, he worked for twenty-seven years for Ford-New Holland, Belleville, Pa,. He was a manufacturing engineer, a position rarely attained without a college degree.  

Shortly after his retirement, he was blessed with the arrival of his granddaugher Jenna.  He and his wife took special pride in helping to oversee her care and watching her grow.

His passion was farming which he began in 1954. He was owner of Tuscarora Shorthorns Purebred Beef Farm.  Jim took pride in knowing that the farmland was purchased by his great grandfather, Joseph W Fogal, in 1870 and it had received a Century Farm award from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.     

He was a member of the Pennsylvania Shorthorn Breeder's Association throughout the years and has served as president, vice-president, secretary-treasurer, and director of that organization.  He was also a member of the Maryland Association.  

Jim exhibited his Shorthorns at various shows in many of the states east of the Mississippi and exhibited at the Pennsylvania Farm Show, winning many blue ribbons, for eighteen consecutive years.  

Jim was a member of the Pathlighters Quartet, which sang gospel music at churches and social clubs throughout central Pennsylvania for fourteen years.  

Many hours were spent at Lake Raystown on his pontoon boat with the Quartet, and various friends and family.   He traveled extensively thoughtout Canada and the United States with his wife and his sisters, along with their husbands.  He also visited Germany with his three sisters and daughter on a genealogy adventure.       

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Upper Path Valley Presbyterian Church, Spring Run Pa.  Rev. Dr. Meagan Boozer will officiate.  Interment will be made in the Salem Cemetery, RD Blairs Mills.  Friends may call at the church 6:00 – 9:00 PM Friday and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
