Joyce D. Fletcher

Joyce Dawson Fletcher, 83, of Linden, VA,, died peacefully surrounded by her family at home on July 29, 2015.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 1, at 2:30 p.m. at Maddox Funeral Home conducted by Pastor Terry Hendricks and Rev Greg Amos. Interment will follow in the Linden Cemetery.

Joyce was born on July 3, 1932, in Warren County, daughter of the late James L Dawson, Sr. and Edith Mae Mauck Dawson. She was married to her loving husband of fifty-five years, Earl E. Fletcher who preceded her in death in 2003.

Surviving are her five children Jimmy Fletcher (Helen), Ruth Ann Rector, Edie Crook (Glenn), Brad Fletcher (Wendy) and Robert “Bobby” Fletcher (Angie) all of Linden; two brothers Russell Dawson of Brentsville and Jack Dawson of Conway, SC; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson. Joyce was also preceded in death by a brother James L. Dawson, Jr.

Pallbearers will be Dean Lamb, David Lamb, Jason Kidwell, Chris Campbell, Robert Crook and James Dawson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Davey Rector, Dalton Rector, Cameron Rector, Frank Thompson and BJ Frame.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family invites all to join them for a time of food and fellowship following the graveside at the Linden Fellowship Hall.
