Born in McConnellsburg, PA, on Nov 9, 1926, “Scott” passed on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Winchester, VA at the age of 90 years.  He was the eldest son of Hope Raker and Fred Stucky Fisher. He was preceded in death by Jeanette Louise Fisher on March 12, 2017; his loving wife of 64 years. They lived in Hustontown, PA for 35 years and were heavily involved within the community. Scott was a Sunday school teacher, layman and organist for the United Methodist Church. He was also an active member with the Volunteer Fire Company for over 20 years prior to moving to Ranson, WV in October, 1996.

Scott has four children residing in WV; Dean P. Johnston Jr and wife Judy, Kearneysville; Vincent F. Fisher, Ranson; Jan F. Fisher, Martinsburg and Candace L. Bailey and son-in-law James, Harpers Ferry. He also has six grandchildren and eight great, grandchildren.

Scott’s youngest and last surviving sibling, Frederica Saxton, lives in McConnellsburg, PA. Scott was predeceased by his brothers Sydney R. Fisher of Carlisle, PA; Benjamin W. Fisher of Chambersburg, PA and Roger A. Fisher of McConnellsburg, PA.

Scott was raised in Mount Rose, PA and attended Penn State University, until being drafted into the US Army in February, 1945. During WWII he served as a Combat Engineer specializing in explosive ordnances at Ft. Belvoir. He was first deployed to Oahu, Hawaii then served on the USS Hancock off the island of Luzon, Philippines until the war ended in 1945. Upon his Honorable Discharge he returned home spending a few years working as a farmer. Having a passion for the outdoors he became employed with the Pennsylvania Dept. of Forestry and Agriculture. Then in the mid-50’s Scott began his long career as a Systems Analyst at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg, PA. He retired in 1983.

Scott was a very dedicated family man who loved all kinds of word puzzles, listening to music, spending time with family and eating good food. He held a zest for life and in his earlier years, anything the outdoors could offer – gardening, tending his orchard, hunting, fishing, and traveling. Scott was a kind-hearted sole and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Services to be held at M.R. Brown Funeral Home, 301 Pitt Street, Hustontown, PA on Friday, July 21, 2017 – Viewing at 11:00 a.m. followed by the funeral at 1:00 p.m.  Pastor Betty Secrest will officiate.  Interment will be at Hustontown Cemetery.  The Fulton Honor Guard will provide military honors.
