Eubanks, Elsie Obituary

Elsie Clara Eubanks departed this life on Wednesday, September 28, 2011.  She was born to the late Louise Eubanks in Amherst County, Virginia on April 13, 1950. Elsie’s mother passed away shortly thereafter and Elsie’s oldest sister, the late Martha Ann Marie Eubanks, brought Elsie and her brother Kenneth to Alexandria, Virginia, raising them both along with her own children Phyllis (Eubanks) Faulks, Maria (Eubanks) Thompson, Willie Eubanks, Lynn (Eubanks) Jackson and Jakola Eubanks. Elsie’s son, Barry Stuart, was also included; so much so that he referred to Martha as “grandma”.

Elsie was a very unique and graceful woman, with a flair for fashion and a keen sense of style.   She liked to beautify and makeover everything—especially people.  She was a stylist at heart.  She also made beautiful flower arrangements.  Elsie could not resist walking by flowers and taking time to stop, smell, admire and clip them. Yes…she actually took time to “stop and smell the roses.”

She leaves to cherish her memory a beloved son, Barry Stuart, and granddaughter, LaKita Stuart.  Elsie is also survived by her sister, Betty Jarrett, and brother, Kenneth Eubanks, plus a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The viewing and visitation will be held at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1401 Jamieson Avenue, Alexandria, VA (map, directions) on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 12:00 noon.  The committal service will follow at Bethel Cemetery, Alexandria, Virginia (map, directions).

Arrangements by Phillip Bell Sr. and Winona Morrissette-Johnson P. A.

Please have all flowers sent to Shiloh Baptist Church, the day of the service.
