Per Eskeland, 93, of Dingmans Ferry, PA passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 at home. He worked at the Norwegian Public Health Service in New York, NY for 29 years and at the Royal Norwegian Consulate General in the accounts department for 8 years. Mr. Eskeland served in the Royal Norwegian Navy (Merchant Marine) during WWII as a gunner protecting convoy runs between Halifax, Canada and Great Britain.
The son of the late Sven and Gunda Eskeland, he was born September 29, 1920 in Stavanger, Norway. He was married to Elsie (Tharaldsen) Eskeland on May 21, 1949 in Brooklyn, NY.
Survivors include his wife; two sons Stephen P. Eskeland and Philip D. Eskeland and three grandchildren Andrew Peer, Erik and Kari.
A memorial service will be held at the Norwegian Seamen’s Church in New York, NY (317 East 52nd Street) on Friday, December 6, 2013 at 12:00 p.m.
